It's time for the American Express Going Once auctions yet again. From April 17-27, U.S. and U.K. American Express card holders have the can bid on travel adventures. There is a set number of packages and the price drops every twenty minutes until 7:00 pm ET or until the package sells out. Buy early and risk not getting the best deal or wait as the price drops and miss out entirely.First up is a seven-night package to Conouan Island in the Grenadines. The price starts at $7,740. The other excursions include trips to Florence, South Africa, an American tour, Hong Kong, a cruise to Antarctica, a Disney World package, and a trip to the Mayan Riviera. There are also 19 fixed price packages under $3,000 and other travel deals available. .
Chicken dinner to benefit Alzheimer's Association
A fried-chicken dinner, and both a silent and live auction will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. for dinner, with the live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m., on April 27 at the Eagles Club, Missouri Blvd. Adult dinner tickets are $10, children 5-11 years old are $5 and children under five are free.The silent auction will end at 7 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Steve Loethen as auctioneer.For more information or to get tickets, call Kay Niemeier at 893-4150 or Judi Hasler at 635-1287. Spammers, hackers seize on Virginia Tech shootings
Spammers and hackers are using the slayings at Virginia Tech as a gory lure to infect computers with malicious software, security experts noted Thursday. By Jeremy Kirk IDG News Service Updated: Apr 23, 2007 11:31 PM While the video made by gunman Cho Seung-hui prior to the killing of 33 people on Monday was widely posted on news Web sites and YouTube.com, spam e-mails were intercepted Wednesday night purporting to link to the footage on a Brazilian Web site, said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant, at security vendor Sophos.If clicked, the link caused a computer to automatically download a malicious screensaver, called TERROR_EM_VIRGINIA.scr by Sophos, which installs a Trojan horse program that collects banking details, Cluley said.It's unclear yet what banks the Trojan is engineered to exploit, Cluley said.
Six injured in crash
SIX people, including two women and three children, all Indian nationals, were injured last night when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with another car, reports MANDEEP SINGH. The accident took place on Salmaniya Avenue, at the traffic lights near Manama Auctions, at around 9.30pm. Police said a speeding Saudi-registered car reportedly jumped a red light and rammed into the other car. The man driving the Saudi-registered car was not identified but he was reportedly in custody late last night. He was not injured. The injured have been identified as Lessone Lazanees, 23, who was driving; Siji, 35; Molly Yesudas, 31; her daughters, Amrita, 11 and Sneha, 7; and Krishnapriya Pradeep, 9. They were returning home from the Salmaniya Medical Complex after visiting Mr Lazanees' sister, who is in hospital after delivering a baby.
