Mombasa, Kenya - With just 24 hours to go to the announcement of the names of the cities that will win the right to host the 2011 and 2013 IAAF World Championships in Athletics, large delegations are warming up to tackle the final hurdle of their bidding process. From 8.50am local time (GMT +3hrs) tomorrow morning until 13.20, the delegations of Barcelona, Spain, Brisbane, Australia, Moscow, Russia and Daegu, South Korea will start their final presentation in front of the IAAF Council Members, the decision making body of the IAAF. .

Grey Flannel May 16 Auction Features Southerland Tobacco Ad ...
Mark Southerland's tobacco ad collection comprise about a third of the Grey Flannel Auctions sale on May 16. The auction also contains one of the earliest signed Babe Ruth baseballs. The consignor has owned the ball for more than 40 years. It's signed by Ruth and dated "10-20-1919." Other blockbuster items added late to the auction include racing suits worn by the late Dale Earnhardt and a fire opal ring given by Elvis Presley to Priscilla, then his fianc. .
Tenders to be floated Bids to be called for waste management
CHENNAI : Ambattur may soon be relieved of its perennial problem of waste management as the local body plans to float tenders in a week to improve infrastructure at the Athipattu dumping yard and to build compost garbage sheds in various areas. The Ambattur Municipality plans to call for bids on April 24 to build a compound wall, at an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 1.50 crore, around the dumping yard. At present, the incineration of garbage at the yard poses health hazards, residents complain. Air and water pollution and stench are other problems faced by the residents. The residents in association with voluntary organisations, however, staged a protest a month ago against the Municipality's proposal to construct the compound wall. They fear that the place would become a permanent garbage disposal site.
